JOIN THE SARCREATE WORLD / BEHIND THE COLLABORATION WITH SARAH DEYOUNG
For artist and illustrator Sarah Deyoung, creativity has always been second nature. Raised in a world of paint, paper, and endless artistic exploration, she found her rhythm early—first through watercolor, then fine arts, and eventually in the digital realm with Sarcreate, her creative studio. Her work, deeply inspired by surf culture, tropical landscapes, and the easy rhythm of outdoor living, is an extension of the way she moves through life—free, fluid, and full of color.
When it came to designing this special edition fin, Sarah leaned into that same organic energy. Starting with watercolor sketches before bringing the piece to life digitally, she let the process guide her, capturing the natural flow of water, tropical warmth, and the harmony of yin and yang. A piece that feels effortless yet intentional—just like the ocean itself!
Beyond the collaboration, Sarah is at a pivotal moment in her creative journey—balancing big projects with a desire to slow down, reconnect with the joy of making, and let inspiration come naturally. Whether she’s working with clients across the globe or simply soaking up the beauty in her backyard, her art remains a window into a life well-lived, shaped by sun, salt, and endless adventure.
“My art is totally a reflection of my life—surf, the tropics, and being outside. I’m lucky to live in a place where I can pick fruit right outside my door and only a moment away from advenTures. That energy naturally flows into my work. Whether I'm on the water, hiking a waterfall, or basking in the sun, those moments fuel my creativity. I feel so connected to what I’m creating because it’s not just art—it’s my everyday life. My work is like a little window into me, with a peaceful, earthy, natural color palette- the way I see the world. “
“When I designed this fin, I just went with the flow—literally. I usually start by sketching with watercolor to get those creative wheels turning. There’s something about starting with paint and water that brings a natural, organic vibe to my work. Then I move to my iPad to bring it all to life digitally. This piece wasn’t pulled from any past work—it kind of just came together on its own. I wanted to keep it super chill and a bit more abstract, focusing on the flow of water, tropical feels, and balance you get from the yin and yang symbol.”
