YOUR SHORTBOARD DOESN'T HAVE TO KNOW...

PERFORMANCE. OPTIONAL.

We design fins as creative tools, not rulebooks. Every collaboration, every colorway, every release is built around expression — artists, surfers, and friends shaping ideas into something you can actually ride. Limited runs, thoughtful design, and stories that live on the board and can shine on the shelf.

This isn’t anti-performance. It’s anti-pressure.

THE ORIGIN

Midfin wasn’t built in perfect waves or by perfect expectations. It came from a simple idea - surfing should feel good again.

Somewhere along the way, surfing got complicated. The "right" board, the "right" conditions, the "right" way to do things. We’re not interested in any of that.

Mid Fin is for the surfers who grab whatever gets them in the water - logs, midlengths, singles, twins, weird shapes collecting dust in the corner.

It's for the surfers who know The session matters more than the setup.

This didn’t start with a master plan. It started in Bali — two fresh high performance shortboards under our arms and the kind of confidence you only have before you see yourself on camera.

A photographer gave us the nod as we paddled out, convinced we were about to capture something iconic. We surfed hard, trying to look fast, trying to look like the surfers we thought we were supposed to be.

Back on the beach, sunburned and stoked, we grabbed the camera and started scrolling.

The photos weren’t bad — they just told the truth.

We weren’t chasing a pro career. We weren’t trying to surf “correct.” What we actually loved was being out there — the feeling, the experimentation, the boards that didn’t fit into anyone else’s rules.

That moment flipped a switch. Less proving something. More enjoying it.

Something deeper settled in after that trip. We weren’t beginners chasing our first wave, and we weren’t surfing wizards either. We were somewhere in the middle — a space defined less by performance and more by connection.

That middle ground had already taken us around the world, introduced us to lifelong friends, and shaped how we experienced the ocean. It wasn’t about being the best surfer in the lineup. It was about showing up, sharing waves, and building a life around something we genuinely loved.

That realization became the foundation of Mid Fin Co.

A brand built for surfers who live in that in-between space — where skill doesn’t need labels, where progress isn’t measured by perfection, and where every session is its own quiet celebration of being perfectly mid.

Performance optional. Feeling required.

SUSTAINABILITY

We don’t exist without the ocean—so we feel it’s our responsibility to keep it clean. All our direct packaging is fiber-based, earth-digestible, and curbside recyclable. We kept it simple, so you can enjoy your fin guilt-free and toss what you’re not surfing with straight into your blue bin.

PARTNERSHIP WITH A NEW EARTH PROJECT

Every year, tons of packaging, and plastic fins end up polluting our oceans and beaches. Careless waste threatens marine life, damages ecosystems, and undermines the very waves we cherish. It’s easy to overlook, but every piece of trash left behind or tossed aside contributes to a growing crisis that affects surfers and sea lovers everywhere. We can't be perfect but we try our best and work with A New Earth Project to make sure we have the most sustainable packaging.
